Owner, Powhatan Weight & Wellness, LLC
With over 19 years of nursing experience and a career as a Family Nurse Practitioner since 2017, I’m passionate about helping patients take control of their health. I earned my RN diploma from Bon Secours Memorial School of Nursing, my bachelor’s degree from Old Dominion University (Go Monarchs!), and my master’s degree from Maryville University of St. Louis.
At Powhatan Weight & Wellness, I focus on a proactive, preventive approach to healthcare. By treating the root causes of illness and optimizing hormones and weight management, I help patients achieve their wellness goals and live their best lives. I enjoy the art of aesthetics, including injectables, because of how they enhance confidence and make people feel great about themselves. Health literacy is also a passion of mine—I strive to make healthcare approachable, helping patients better understand their bodies and the disease processes that impact them.
Since moving to Powhatan in 2017, I’ve been dedicated to improving the well-being of this community, one patient at a time. Continuing education is a cornerstone of my practice, ensuring I stay at the forefront of advancements in wellness and aesthetics.
When I’m not working, I’m a proud wife and mom to twins—a boy and a girl. My home is full of love (and fur!) thanks to our pets: Rosie, a mini goldendoodle; Ranger, a German Wirehaired Pointer; Beaker, our cat; a hamster; and a fish. In my free time, I enjoy quilting, reading, and cross-stitching.
With 14 years as a registered nurse and 8 years as a nurse practitioner, I’ve always been drawn to helping others. In high school, I discovered my passion for volunteering and serving my community, which paired perfectly with my love for science—especially biology. Encouraged by my aunt to channel my compassion into a meaningful career, I pursued nursing and quickly found my calling in women’s health.
Growing up, I was surrounded by strong, caring women—my mom, her five sisters, and my grandmothers—who often prioritized others over their own health. This inspired me to specialize in women’s health so I could educate, empower, and advocate for women to prioritize their well-being.
I’ve lived in the Richmond area since starting nursing school at VCU in 2006 and currently reside in Glen Allen with my husband, two stepchildren—Caleb (18) and Olivia (10)—and our four energetic dogs: Jixer (a 15-year-old Cheagle), Nelly Mae, Jimmy Dean, and Willie Nelson (all miniature dachshunds).
Outside of work, I enjoy traveling with my husband and stepchildren, attempting to cultivate a green thumb with gardening and houseplants, and relaxing with a good documentary. My work in women’s health has been deeply rewarding, especially seeing patients transform into healthier, more confident individuals. Building strong relationships with my patients and improving their quality of life remains my greatest motivation.
